     also, on sway i had to do `gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme prefer-dark` to get dark mode in gtk4 apps.

     @mntmn I do most of my computer related tasks in the terminal. I also prefer Sway over a fullblown desktop. Still I feel that Gnome gets too much hate. The polish they try to achieve, the user friendliness, the cohesive design. The Gnome apps are really well designed. It’s something we should be appreciative of as a community, imho, even if it’s not for us. I also think that Gnome has one of the best shots of ever becoming a competitive on tablet/phone. One can hope 😅🤞🏻

     @josch yes, i thought of that too! maybe it's a race between the gtk portal being there for querying the setting or not

     @mntmn Huh... the reform-setup-wizard is adwaita, no? Could this explain why I see these issues in my testing scripts where it would somehow fail to choose the dark theme?
