@theorytoe @SuperSnekFriend @bleedingphoenix the people who sit around just want an easy fix and would have been plan trusting if they were older

yeah thats what I actually was implying.
Though I think for one the amount of change is different for each person, as he all has different intentions for us.
But as a body we have been given tools to discern ones faith, and we should be using those as tools to help keep each other accountable in that endeavor.

Though I think this movie can be used as a "wake-up call" for the idyllicism of out modern culture, and hopefully help us realize that we probably shouldn't be sitting around waiting for the next movement to come around, but instead start one ourselves.

though to paraphrase Christ
>I have come for the sick and the needy
>not those who are healthy and well off
I think we should be accepting of those who really truly want to change their lives, but discerning of all of those we disciple to.
We need to be able to give the light to those who dont have it, but also be aware of those who want to lure us in and destroy what we work so hard to achieve.
ultimately as long as we stay firm in out foundation on the word, I think the wonders of Christ can work in any ways that not even I, you, or others can truly anticipate.

@theorytoe @bleedingphoenix >I think we should be accepting of those who really truly want to change their lives
But are they willing to change their lives the way God wants them to change?

@bleedingphoenix maybe a better interpretation of it is to be a ""rally"" type movie, it may inspiring to people (in that case go ahead i dont mind) but if we are really trying to save people I dont think a movie is going to be very effective at doing that.

@theorytoe the timing of this movie really couldn't have been better, honestly, given the "revival" going on in kentucky. they talk about allowing gay shit and being accepting of everyone, and they explicitly condemn any opposition. this isn't God, it's just emotional strings getting pulled.

Idk, I dont have really much of a problem with the show persay, because its historic (from preliminary research) and whatever,
The main issue I take from it is because in a time where there is more of a need of discipleship than ever, we instead end up pushing out some movie that more sensational than anything. Instead of actually being involved and relational in others lives to be a light, we sit on our butts either watching the movie or critiquing it.
Neither of which is necessarily bad, but it does take away from time that would could be spending in the word, or being disciples to others (very much needed especially with the current state of genz). It kinda promotes this parasocial sensational ""feel good"" thing in many people who will go to movie, feel ""inspired"" then return to life as normal.
If we look at some historical influential evangelical leaders like Billy Graham, he actually put his time, money, and resources to his work to spread the gospel in meaningful ways using the tools he had available.
He had much more of an impact because he was *active* about his work, there was nothing passive about what he did.

family dragged me to that jesus movement movie. it's pretty bad. it's everything i hate about christian movies, all acceptance and tearing down of old discriminating christianity. it's pretty poor quality too, so it's bad enough to keep nonchristians out but will pull at emotional "spiritual christians". oh yeah, and obviously they don't mention Lonnie Frisbee was a fag who died of aids, but they do have the stuck-up families react poorly to a "change is coming for your children" line. family's singing its praises, so it did its job. this is so fucking gay.
