Google is getting passive aggressive: Google clamps down on VPN workarounds for cheaper YouTube Premium subscriptions: The common thread between these cancelations is that the users used a VPN workaround to subscribe to Premium at a cheaper rate than the one applicable to their region. For example, someone from EU or USA will choose Indian or Argentinian VPN to get lower price for YouTube Premium. So now they are cancelling
@nixCraft so now they're cracking down on ad blockers and VPNs. For the love of God everyone can You please stop using YouTube. They're like three other platforms to do videos. We have odysee, rumble and peertube for open source users. WE DO NOT NEED ANY MORE OF THIS ABUSE. JUST MOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS TO THE OTHER PLATFORMS. IF YOUR SUBSCRIBERS LIKE YOUR CONTENT THEY WILL MOVE TO THE OTHER PLATFORMS NO MATTER WHAT.
@nixCraft cancelled my subscription for Vinegar + Sponsorblock on mobile (iOS)
The only drawbacks are having to use the inferior web app instead of the proper native one but at least I don’t have to put up with ads / sponsorships anymore
@nixCraft The price for YouTube Premium is absolutely mad already and the fact YouTube all but admits this by stopping people from trying to get it cheaper is proof to me that YouTube is getting greedy.
