   After a year of using it, I finally discovered how to display input source information on my LG TV.

   You need to shake the TV remote and the press "select".

   Doesn't work without shaking. This is not a joke

     @arek proved me wrong! There is a way to do this without shaking the remote. It took him 5 seconds to figure that out. So the root of the problem is at least in part inbetween my ears
