   Like, yeah, most “research” that goes on in tech companies’ design processes is non-consentual psychological experimentation without oversight.

   I’m not kidding about this.

   And no, a terms of service document that changes every couple weeks and is written in obscure legal-speak is not what informed consent looks like.

     Running “experiments” on other people without their consent is unethical. If I do that during my psychology studies I’ll be in serious trouble, possibly career-ending.

     But tech people just call it a “quick hack”, “user research” or “a/b testing” and think it’s fine.
