   people who were not in school when AIDS was really booming really probably don't understand how much terror they put into those of us who were
   
   I wonder how much of the difference between older genx/boomers and younger is just those of us who *both* recognize covid as AIDS *and* AIDS as that terrible thing and those who don't do either
   
   and then the younger millenials / zoomers who came around when HIV was managable, who also don't have this reference frame of AIDS being a major potential *unknown* threat
