A major milestone in our 6+ years long project history: With the rolling 1.46 #deltachat app releases you can start chatting without a pre-existing e-mail address, and benefit from push notifications (instant message delivery) also on Android. We also highlight ways to get in contact with bots and humans, and how #chatmail makes e-mail cheap again https://delta.chat/en/2024-05-31-instant-onboarding
@delta I'm having a fantastic time with the app. Thank you for making a working chat that I can use with anyone (even people not using the app) which also doesn't give my info to zucc or gates. image.png
@delta With how fast the chatmail servers are, I wanted to mention a possible pipe dream of mine for the app. I'd like to see something them used with something like a walkie-talkie mode for the app for real-time voice comms. The voice messages would be sent as compressed .aac and automatically deleted after playback, and users would use PTS (push to send) and be able to use their own audio files for the PTT button, the audio message received sound, and the ready to transmit sound.
@irie_new@delta I was describing a thing I'd like to have added onto a future iteration of the app. Right now it just does chat email (you can use one of their chatmail servers or use your own provider [icloud, gmail, etc.]) With that said, a clear advantage of using delta chat is that you can talk with anyone who uses email even if they don't have the delta chat app: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LbrGXKZN70
