   One of the things that frustrates me about modern laptops is that there's no dedicated sleep LED indicator.

   There's only one LED and it communicates the power state by either being continuously on, or pulsatig when sleeping.

   So now when I want to check if the laptop is asleep, I need to look at an LED for a few seconds to make sure I didn't glance at it during the part of a pulse animation that makes it look like it's on.

   Not a good design. Machines shouldn't make me wait.

     Another pet peeve is laptops that integrate the power indicator LED with the ppwer button.

     The computer is off. I need to press and hold the power button to turn it on. When it registers a long press, it indicates that by turning on the power indicator LED. But I can't see it because MY FINGER IS ON THE BUTTON. Should I keep holding the button? Or is it on?

     Why do designers get such basic interactions wrong is beyond me
