Linux For Everyone
Am I imagining this, or did there used to be a Linux distro that let you install it right from Windows. I’m not talking about using Rufus, etc, to burn an ISO to USB in Windows. IIRC this distro actually had an installer you could use in Windows, then reboot into your shiny new Linux install.
Tell me I’m not making this up.

What a smart and lower-friction way to get people to try Linux. Wish that method could still exist.

I don't remember specifically, but I think Ubuntu had something like that at one point. I could be wrong though.

@Linux4Everyone Before Wubi there was WinLinux, way more earlier. Both claimed to be co-exist with Windows in their file system and had the installation experience just like Windows apps

@Linux4Everyone sounds a bit like wubi to me. IIRC this was a windows installer which installed linux into a loop file on your windows partition and made it bootable via the windows boot manager. I think i used it in the early 2000s.
Don't know if it is still around.

@Linux4Everyone I think Ubuntu used to be able to do that, like, circa 2012? I just vaguely remember seeing something like that when I first heard about Linux back then

@OpenComputeDesign I’m guessing things have become too locked down for an installer like that to still exist. It came to mind while I was thinking about the process of flashing ISOs to USB and wondering if the *average* computer user would ever even attempt the traditional Linux installation method most of us consider easy.
Something like Wubi must have removed at least SOME barriers to entry.
