     @Jens_Rasmussen @Groomschild Since I dropped from college before this part I cannot ssy why it doesnt happen, however my guess is that you don't want to have your radar doing certain things.
     For one you don't want it locating your own traffic since that is irrelevant information. Then you have thr part og being over horizon, not magical so you want it strategically located to cover an area, etc

     Radars will pick up your own traffic all the time, I would assume. And it can probably still be directed even if it has 360 degree capabilities.

     @Gerfand @Jens_Rasmussen Yeah OHR are to big to put on a rotating mount and you can't make a 360 version since the radio waves from such a powerful device will turm the local environment into a microwave

     I don't mean rotating, but rather that they are built to be able to search 360 degrees from the beginning.

     @Jens_Rasmussen oh no, Over Horizon Radar are more often than not very linear... there was one near Chernobyl I think that was a literal wall of antenas

     It makes sense if you believe that Ukraine will have their airfleet somewhat replenished later this year, which is the belief among western leaders.

     @Jens_Rasmussen @Gerfand think about it like you are at a concert. if you are facing the stage you can only hear the music. but even if you look backwards the best you can understand from other people is hand gestures. which is kind of how long distance radar works
