Many believers in the 3rd century beyond came from the Neo-Platonist school of thought because Christianity perfected their argument of a single entity called Logos that is the source of everything. Look up about Logos and Christianity if you don't believe me.

There are many similar concept emanating from the Neo-Platonist thought with Christianity, even to the point of St. Augustine incorporating it into the Christian philosophy, of course with a lot of thinking by him and selecting only something that doesn't conflict with the words of God.
