@DailyStormerDigest Meyer had a strong grasp of drama and was in some ways a very liberal version of David Mamet - that is to say a jew who knew how to write for Whites. I credit his wide reading of quality White authors. He considered Roddenberry ridiculously naive to think war and hatred would ever end.

Meyer was up front about the aesthetic and themes being inspired by Hornblower, although I did not realize the plot points were such a direct "inspiration".
I do appreciate that Meyer looked at the uniforms from the first movie, accurately noted that they looked like pajamas, and made a new look that lasted for the rest of the Original Series films.
