@Billy_Hughes @MelGibsonafter4Beers @ValeOfShadows Not only could faggots in Ancient Greece not hold public office, if you were a known male ASSOCIATE of an admitted faggot you could not do so either

@TrevorGoodchild @Billy_Hughes @MelGibsonafter4Beers @ValeOfShadows I have a friend who says that the stories about the Spartans engaging in homosexual sex were not true. The Spartans did not leave us any of their own writings, and the stories of Spartan homosexual sex all came from the literate Athenians who were their sworn enemies. It's kind of like when jews now spread lies and slander about the Germans to destroy their reputation because they hate them. Thoughts?

@WhiteAmericanEskimo @Billy_Hughes @MelGibsonafter4Beers @ValeOfShadows Likely a complete fabrication, similar to the Spartans calling the Athenians "boy lovers". Leather Apron Club does a very good job (links above) explaining just how badly sodomy was looked down upon in the culture, particularly for a people like the Spartans who lived extremely restricted and regimented lives at the highest societal levels
