   The idea makes sense in moderation: Vengeance can lead to a cycle of violence which creates more evil than the original wrong. There is merit in letting things go and making peace.
   
   What makes no sense is the idea that you should let the same people just keep on doing evil to you and those you love because it's a moral highground somehow. It's not, it's cowardice and neglect of duty.
