@higashikata @ninja8tyu >not mix fat and carbs in meals
So you can't eat bread ever basically?
-
@higashikata pretty much, it's more important to eat various kinds of foods, not just the food pyramid
you need all kinds of nutrients, the body is built to digest, you gotta let it eat anything and everything, it's always worth trying something new because you never know what you're lacking (eg. americans don't get much iodine because their diet consist mostly of land foods, whereas seafood is high in that, and thus need it in their salts)
carbs are only useful for holding water, and honestly makes you fatter; it's useful to have enough of it so you don't need to drink/piss often but generally worthless outside the desert
proteins are the most expensive and most useful, healthiest option available, even plant proteins being shitty doesn't remove its value
also both of the reasons above are why vegans are retarded

@ninja8tyu You can even get iodine from things like eggs, milk, cheese, etc but that's besides the point. It's odd, American's are actually pretty good about following the food pyramid but that's only because that's one of those things you're taught when you're young to not really question. I always try to break it down to people that you always need protein no matter what and then try to decide on whether to use carbs or fats as a source of energy with me being more biased towards fats since you get more bang for your buck with them compared to carbs. I also try to tell people to not mix fat and carbs in meals as they actually work against each other and both of them combined in high amounts in meals actually forces the body to store more fat than what you would if you only ate carbs or only fats. The hardest part about nutrition info is just getting people to understand that fats aren't bad and are necessary, more so than carbs.

@ninja8tyu Food pyramid is a scam, it was lobbied for back in the 40's(?) to make consuming mass produced shit more acceptable. I personally feel better when I either fast for a few days at a time or eat only meat with fats and some sort of veggies.

@Immahnoob @ninja8tyu Bread is fine if you know who's making it is good at what they do. Most breads you'll find is filled with HFCS which is absolutely brutal. I've started making my own sourdough bread and it's really good.
In regards to carbs + fats, you really want to avoid having meals where those are the main two things in the meal. It's ok to mix and match them as long as one is in a lower proportion compared to others, like say a slice of bread with a couple of eggs cooked in bacon fats. That's fine to have, just try to avoid overloading meals with both of them.
