   I had said before that the U.S. cutting off military aid to #Israel would not stop what they’re doing in #Gaza right away for a variety of reasons, one being that the right-wing government *really* wants to keep doing what they’re doing.

   #Biden cuts off two shipments of ammunition and #Netanyahu orders a fresh assault on #Rafah ~24 hours later, so what’s happening is even worse than I thought it would be.

     Netanyahu wants to avoid new elections and prison, not just for his corruption scandals but now for war crimes. Israelis are protesting for him to accept the ceasefire deal offered by Hamas and for new elections - they’re doing things like setting fires in Tel Aviv and blocking highways.

     He can’t get control of the situation by prolonging the slaughter of Gazans or speeding it up, but try telling him that.

     There are some people on here being like “Biden is only cutting off military aid as part of an elaborate deception to keep from being associated with the attack on Rafah,” which is basically like saying all the protests and demands to cut off aid mean nothing (it’s pretty absurd, IMO, and casting any kind of success as failure).

     But this is Netanyahu being like “you can’t tell *me* what to do” and just trashing everything as he realizes the walls are closing in on him.
