@deadheat @djsumdog 100k BTC is inevitable it's just how long and does that beat inflation/S&P500.
Now with these ETPs normies can buy in their normal brokerage using their normal retirement/tax-preferential accounts. Every Xillenial is going to have a few percent. At a certain point pensions might start doing it. It's still very early days and they're just bootstrapping these funds right now, doing promotional expense ratios.
-
@djsumdog @crunklord420 what's going on is that some people were expecting/hoping bitcoin would reach 100k, but that was never very realistic...
-
I don't understand what's going on in this graph, but now I am hungry

@PunishedD @deadheat @djsumdog they shouldn't have been running a mixing service. It's one thing to write code, it's another thing to run a for-profit mixing service especially as an American especially without making effort to exclude Americans. This wouldn't happen to the Electrum developers because there's nothing "extra" about it.
The stuff the US Government was talking about changing the definition of who a "broker" was which would end up including programmers who write smart contracts. That's different and way worse. They want to arrest people who write smart contracts for liquidity pools.

@PunishedD @deadheat @djsumdog and yes, mixing services in practice are basically illegal to run. They have to be doing KYC/AML, and they don't (which is the point). This is also why AEC coins like XMR have been delisted from exchanges, because every transaction is basically mixed. It's not actually illegal, just too much regulatory risk for not enough reward.

@hakui @deadheat @djsumdog shorting a bitcoin ETP doesn't actually affect the underlying market. The funds follow the real market. The funds gaps to spot price on weekly open.
I have no idea how US institutions actually use leverage in bitcoin land. I'm unaware of any US-legal margin bitcoin exchanges or CFDs.

@crunklord420 @deadheat @djsumdog *now with those ETPs institutions will be able to short it to hell just like shiny rock
-
@crunklord420 @deadheat @djsumdog if the ETP goes down they have to sell their holdings
