   I love how gold went skyrocketing and then dropped like a rock and now is going down because everyone remembers how controlled that entire commodity really is.

     Like maybe $4k worth or something? But it still effects our price when they do that shit.

     @John_Darksoul @epictittus Certificates.
     
     They just print a bunch of futures certificates and put them on the market.
     There's no limit to the amount of certificates they can print to say "You can redeem this for gold" - nobody ever does.
     
     Last I remember they were already at something like 20 or 40 for every ounce of gold they actually represented.

     @epictittus @thefinn It’s still fairly up, but I have been wondering how we’ve gone through several years of terrible inflation and gold/silver have remained remarkably stable. What is the mechanism for price control here? Especially when countries like China have been increasing stores.

     @Nils @thefinn @TrevorGoodchild @epictittus @John_Darksoul Last handle was around 2050 - new one may be 2250, since it is back at 2300 now. Until China stops mass-buying, not sure we will get a good buy-in price.
