@meso @Moon @alex @sjw You'd have to do some hacking. In Pleroma, URLs are tied to usernames. You could do something like I did with the /b/ bot except remove the test and just rewrite all local activity to come from an account named jeff. For more lulz, tweak the notifications endpoint so that no matter who is logged in, they only see jeff's notifications.
In fact, you could skip all of that: create a jeff account, then hack up the auth code so that when it checks who a token belongs to, it always returns jeff. Since Pleroma gives you a token even when you're logged out, you would never have to log in, you'd just always be jeff. People that have never been jeff arrive on the site, they're logged in as jeff, they get confused, they click the logout button, the page refreshes and...they're jeff again.
Also do not tack both me and Gleason onto the list of people you tag for this, I am bound by honor to shit on Gleason when that happens and I have things to do with my time so I'd rather not shit on Gleason every single day.
Gleason is a liability. Everyone freaked out about Jojo, but Jojo is just a fun guy, he turned out not to be a liability at all. I don't know why people freaked out about Jojo but not Gleason. Gleason has caused nothing but trouble: he ran off kaniini, the glitch-soc maintainer stopped working with the Pleroma team, then shat on the Pleroma team themselves. He doesn't know how fedi works so he's made it impossible to get a real URL (i.e., one that will serve up the JSON representing the activity) out of his shitty Twitter clone so you can't get your home instance to fetch a post when you search for it, he's too goddamn stupid to realize that unless you throw posts at people they have no idea what they're signing up for (this is something that Pleroma, Misskey, and to a lesser extent, Mastodon all do correctly) and that this hampers the thing he claims to want: broader adoption. This is why, except Poast (where people have heard of graf and know what the site is), Soapbox instances stagnate. Show, don't tell. People know what Twitter is, they don't need to see what's on there to sign up; fedi is different but Gleason doesn't know how that works, he's just made off-brand Twitter by forking the Gab FE and then gluing that to Pleroma BE and if that wasn't bad enough, he has spent all of his time successively approximating Twitter. The only people that want off-brand Twitter are people that wish they were on Twitter: cheap clones get no traction. Gleasonoma has login-walled more shit than Mastodon. People join when they know what it is they're joining, they see something fun, they want to participate; people stay when there's something interesting that keeps them around. "If you sign up for this, it will be like Twitter mostly. It looks and works like Twitter." People use Linux, they use Haiku and Plan 9; nobody uses ReactOS. It's almost like everything Gleason does is calculated to kill fedi: proliferate some clone that nobody asked for, login-wall everything so people just close the tab, then constantly start shit with the people hacking on it, including actual libel like claiming lain's participating in a child-trafficking ring. At best, he's a temperamental, screechy, thoughtless dev; at worst, he's deliberately trying to screw the place up.
