I like a lot about type C but holy hell they look like ticking time bombs when you walk into an editing bay. doesn’t help that Apple probably didn’t solder in the receptacle for easy replacement, either. I suspect a bad type C port will require a full board replacement, in typical apple fashion.
Older cables, enterprise gear has a lot of security built in that ensured you didn’t put too much stress on a connector, you had additional threading or locking to help alleviate stresses on it to increase port longevity. You see this catching on w/ headphones lately, too.
Overall I’m loving type C ecosystem, but I really wanna have at least 1 port on each side of the laptop so I’m not on the road, screwed, when my single port gets ruined by some oaf yoinking the cable out sideways
