   Head canon: His wife passed away from an attack when Mojojo went apeshit evil. They never had any children, partially from a fertility problem Utonium's wife was facing. Feeling heavy grief and extreme loneliness, Utonium decided to make girls with the research he and his wife were conducting. The rest is history.
   
   OG Series Canon: It was loneliness and the desire to be a dad, though I don't think there was anything more than that. He was always a bit luckless with the ladies, a fact which the show exploited once or twice.
