there's a lot to unpack with this incident but two of the biggest questions nobody is asking (because eyeballs are understandably focused on the content of the leak) are, who leaked this and why
no matter what this was a counterintelligence failure of absolutely massive proportions. but given that these images first started circulating in anonymous Russian social media channels, I think the default hypothesis here has to be a flex by the FSB. there isn't much in these documents that wasn't already known in broad strokes, including the potential Ukrainian axis of advance SE of Bakhmut (Prigozhin has been harping on this for weeks). this is the FSB telling the CIA, we got a guy on the inside
