   @BroDrillard Modern panerais are faggot slop, but the originals were made by rolex for panerai to be used by the italian frogmen. It's an early rolex cushion case diver, hand wind, and it's wonderful. Panerai made torpedo sights for the destroyers too.

   Very cool history too, when the italians cucked the germans snagged all of them, used them through war's end. While the B-Uhr became the prototypical pilot's watch to last even today, the Panerai/Rolex 3646 is entirely forgotten. Wearing a solid Radiomir clone is a nifty way to send up a subtle signal of 'based' to people at work, in a way that isn't quite so identifiable as the Buhr.

   The famous panerai now is a later evolution, germans went to train the argies and egyptians, so it has a different pedigree, less problematic so that's where they rest their laurels. But dammit a good sandwich dial with bright lume, and a kampfschwimmer dial is just beauty to me
