There is a comic titled “Handling Non-Responding & Frozen Applications”. Inside it are two sections, one for Windows and one for Linux. In the Windows bit, a process is not responding, and Windows comes over and says, “Sir, you are consuming too much resource and you are not responding. Would you please consider killing yourself? ...Sir?” After some time, both the process and Windows go into the not responding state. In the Linux slide, the same thing happens with a process, where Linux just straight up kills it and walks away.
