people have talked about Skibidi Toilet a lot, but i don't think people have really reasoned what its success represents. "kids are dumb" can only cut it so much, because kids are naturally inquisitive and want to be challenged emotionally and intellectually. and if something like a gmod series can reach the heights it has, that means there has been a complete failure on the part of the entertainment industry to compete.
not that there hasn't be exceptions, but just about everything out currently is about belittling the viewers and treating them like infants. we see zoomers constantly chasing the newest ARG or lore-focused game because in those instances there is an actual moment of sincerity, and kids today crave something real. Skibidi Toilet treats itself with more respect than Marvel movies, and unfortunately for children that is what is being offered to them and both options are going to invite scorn from their elders whose only advantage is being born early enough to have better options.
the Amazing Digital Circus is in a similar boat, and in this case the creators have talked about how they're deliberately trying to fill the void between infant cartoons and adult animation, something that is actually for children of ages 6-12. and guess what? they're getting massive success and are proving that there is desperate need for this kind of thing. the zoomers and gen A are being thrown to the mud and they're looking for a lifeline.
