Something interesting to find in linux is the compatibility layer for window, WINE (https://www.winehq.org/), it is not perfect, I do not use it much, but it is excellent for the needs that one may have, I think in the end WINE helps a lot when you have to use some software that you can not find in linux, however one can consider whether to use it or not as it can weaken a little your security, some versions of linux focus on using this compatibility layer so it is much more similar to window, however I use linux mint and WINE is not pre-installed, so I had to install and configure it myself, nowadays I practically only use it for games, and some little casual programs, but generally only games and so far both wine (and lutris) has been quite useful and surprising, much more than I expected, when I started in linux I never thought I could play some of the games I normally play, but it turns out that through these tools and thanks to the wine (and lutris) project playing has become very easy and much better than I expected.
I also run without problem some games like Rise of kingdoms and games I have downloaded from itch.io using wine and without problems, however some give problems with the graphics and well I will talk about this soon when I talk about my experience with Lutris.
really people don't be afraid of linux, wine is not perfect and far from it, but you may be able to run without problem that software that is not available for linux and that you should use no matter what, ever games, personally I have had a more than excellent experience with it.
