   @Ghislaine My parents really pushed us out of the house a lot, so we spent a lot of time ranging around on bikes, later tiny motorized things, just to increase our range. Even in the 00’s, you’d have parents in the area routinely stopping to ask us if we needed a ride home, like it was so dangerous for us to be 3 miles from the house that we needed immediate rescue.

   Can’t imagine they’re much better, though they’re likely much more disinterested. In the suburbs, where most are white, you’re fine.
