   Some of the most active Masto instances are just fan-run Japanese instances for video games: http://demo.fedilist.com/instance/ffxiv-mastodon.com . There was one (I don't know if it's still around) that was based entirely around people coordinating events in some gacha game. They escaped the mass fluoridation by just making themselves a place and being there. So people post these Steam screenshits and, like...of course a corporation is going to pull shit like that and ban people for jokes, of course a corporation is going to try to coopt the fan club and make sure the fans are on-message.
