Be born into it? I know, not much of a glitch. If you aren’t a trust fund stereotype then “rich” families actually aren’t all that great. I’ve known a few, dated one, and it’s……oddly poor. The ‘good’ families try no to spoil their kids, so yes, they won’t starve, but there’s this weird leash effect where they can’t just do what they want to do and buy what they want. It’s like having every purchase family-approved before you can get anything, and you’re constantly having to defer up the chain to placate the head of the family.
Working for the family business is more often gonna net you a $500/month paycheck from the old guy running things, particularly if he thinks your parents are taking care of your room & board while you get your footing. Can’t really get a ‘real’ job, either, you gotta pay your dues to the family or else everyone thinks you’re abandoning them.
Come to think of it, just as often the only way you’ll get your own place is moving out with your new bride. Have fun with THAT power dynamic when she thinks she’s got fresh gold to dig only to find out a lot comes with strings attached, and the upstart woman in the family has zero say in the way things are run.
Oops, gramps died and suddenly grandma is the one holding the familiy’s fortunes in her clutches? Guess you’re gonna be the one who lets her and her new husband stay for a week because she hates hotels! Wouldn’t wanna rock the boat too much lest she rewrite the will!
(not related but it’s interesting to me to have watched how that rich scene operates in the more down-to-earth families. Most imagine they’re instagram-level fools blowing through daddy’s money, but the white dynastic families I know are much better than that.)
