I use a microphone and a webcam for webcam online but I don't want them to always be plugged in due to privacy concerns. I also don't like having to unplug their cables from and replug them into the computer over and over again. To fix that, I got one of those fancy aviator-style usb-c cables. At the usb-c end is a usb-c to usb type a adaptor, a usb a to usb a coupler, and a usb port splitter. The webcam and microphone are connected to the port splitter.
I tested this out and it worked. The computer recognized when the camera and microphone were connected through the aviator cable, and I was able to use the qrc aviator connector to disconnect them when they weren't in use.
