Alright let's kick this one off
The National Aviary in PA announces the birth of their FIRST critically endangered Hooded Vulture chick! These guys get poisoned a lot, either accidentally from eating vermin that was poisoned or on purpose, which has fucked their numbers along with some other issues like poaching, habitat loss, etc. The chick's first time parents, Ralf and Opal, will be staying with the chick behind the scenes and helping to rear it. It is not yet known at this time when the public will be able to view the new babe.
The Maryland Zoo in (can you guess?) Maryland proudly introduces two baby Trumpeter Swans, which I just learned are called cygnets (SIG-NIT). This will be the 8th clutch raised by parents Buttercup and Scuttle, and both parents will be raising the cygnets. The zoo will be very hands off, as these babies will actually be released into the wild once they are old enough to leave their parents
