   If "everything is motivated by evil," then so is your cynicism.
   
   If the good stands no chance, then neither does apathy. The only SURE way to lose is to concede the game without even making a move.
   
   The notion that anything that inspires hope is just a "psychological operation" is far more likely to itself be a psychological operation: The purpose of psy-ops, propaganda, fake news and other forms of dishonesty is to prevent the other side from winning. But it makes no sense to do such things unless the other side has a chance to win.
