Switching to the carnivore diet has made :mcdonalds: affordable again. Half a pound of beef for less than $4. This isn't bad at all.
I should note some cashiers might try to charge you for the full burger but I'll tell you what I did:
I just asked how much a quarter pound patty was on the "a la carte menu." The cashier tapped some stuff and said $1.60 so I asked for two.
They seemed a bit confused as to how to actually fulfil the order but they got it done without issue.
This approach seems like the best to make sure they charge it right.
The a la carte menu is only available to cashiers so you can't use the app or kiosk. Man just everything about this diet is great. Not only is it cheap, healthy, makes you lose fat, makes you gain muscle, and makes you feel great but it actively discourages the use of the globohomo system.
