Put #Covid19 aside for a second. Let’s say there was an omnipresent airborne virus in the schools and your child is projected to get infected roughly 10 times between kindergarten and 12th grade, without any mitigations. Let’s say that after 4x there’s more than a 50% chance they’ll have persistent symptoms making them unable to play sports ever again. It could also disable them to the point that they can’t read or focus on conversations. They may be unable to get out of bed. There’s a really good chance they’ll develop an autoimmune disease and cardiac condition before they graduate HS without taking any precautions. Most importantly, they probably won’t outlive you if they do collect all of these infections…but since you don’t take precautions either, you’ll be taking care of each other, until you can’t. Would that change your mind? Would you begin to care about your child? Would you start knocking on the principal’s door & attending every board meeting to demand the use of portable air purification devices?
