   @Rhodesian_YuKari @lpheathen2 I know, I just have to fight for their honor to a small extent, because most the boomer generation skipped vietnam if they had any sort of money/plan/status. It was basically fought by drafted slave legions of guys without a support network, but the way they post on facebook makes it sound like they all served as tunnel rats.

   Kids today are soft and gay, but everyone was surprised by how the kids stepped up in 2002 - those poor bastards went through the ringer a number of times, and the olds said they couldn't hack it then, too. Nobody really mentions that the dogshit treatment GWOT vets REALLY hamstrings any recruiting you'd expect today too.

   If it wasn't for all the other reasons not to join, one look at your cousin's utterly ruined knees (b/c the military forced him to overload them for years as a show of authority & force) is enough to make you apply to an apprenticeship instead
