A spreadsheet with calculations showing the energy density and specific energy of Magnesium and Carbon Dioxide combustion. The spreadsheet also compares the results to the same metrics for Lithium Ion batteries. The spreadsheet assumes 40% efficiency for the combustion, and 90% efficiency for the batteries. Despite this, the magnesium combustion has a Specific Energy of 971.38 Wh/kg and a Energy Density of 1,324.22 Wh/L. This about 4x the Specific Energy of Lithium batteries, and 2x the Energy Density of Lithium batteries.
