Taylor Lorenz: In case you need proof that view counts on Twitter aren't accurate: I have a locked, private account with ZERO followers for reporting purposes. I just posted these two tweets. Check the view counts: One tweet I posted on my private acct less than 1 min ago already has 50 views. SCREENSHOT: Taylor: Let's try this again, zero followers. No one should be able to see this tweet to the view should should be at zero! View count: 59 Taylor: Here I am tweeting from a locked account with no followers, so the view count should be zero. Taylor Lorenz demonstrates that no one can trust Twitter's metrics.
She posted from a private account with no followers. Nevertheless, she got "views".
Twitter isn't the only social media company that fakes views. Meta does the same with videos.
The truth is that view counts exist not to give you truthful data, but to incentivize your continued posting.
Don't be fooled by these so-called "view counts"!
