@Zerglingman It was from a time when metalcore bands were being criticized for just making incoherent grunts, so I think a lot of them went the other direction. As I Lay Dying did similarly in An Ocean Between Us, but not to the same extent.
(In their previous music it was basically impossible to know the lyrics without looking them up and saying, "Okay, yeah, I guess I could see how that may have been what he said")
