Atlanta Community Press Collective @atlanta_press At the end of today’s Atlanta City Council meeting, Councilmember Antonio Lewis introduced an ordinance that would ban any sort of face coverings that obscure identity in the city of Atlanta. There are some exceptions in the proposed legislation for religion, work and holidays. There is a carve out in the ordinance for health related masking as well.

This is bad. Atlanta is proposing a blanket ban on masks. (It sounds like healthcare workers and religious face coverings might be exempt)
There is no evidence mask bans reduce crime. But mask bans do increase disease spread, violate free expression rights, and are misused to stop and frisk people of color.
