There's something about the late 60s early 70s that just refuses to go away. 1970 is now 54 years ago, but somehow the same music is still being played and the same cars are still being restored.
I remember at the end of the 90s, people talked about music of the 60s and 70s. In the 2000s nobody talked about the 80s, it was the 60s and 70s. In the 2010s nobody talked about the 90s.
Anyone who understands what the end of Bretton Woods meant for the American economy knows instantly why that is. Everything since 1971 has been malaise.
I think that Milei's branding is absolutely brilliant, perhaps even more so for Americans than for Argentinians. If you're trying to bring up WTF happened in 1971, there's nothing better than sideburns and big hair to do it.
