@dsfgs I agree, this is an important direction of research, especially for services like PeerTube
@dave @nathan There are two proposals: Fedilinks and FEP-07d7. I'm not sure which one is better, but as far as I know Fedilinks has more independent implementations
Hi @dave
I tried to follow an actor and podcastindex server failed to process my Follow activity

@alex Many Mastodon users want data portability, so I wouldn't rule that out. But even if Mastodon devs will implement it, they certainly won't be the first.
Right now FEP-ef61 is just an idea. Some parts are not quite elegant, (especially inbox discovery), W3C standards which FEP-ef61 is based upon are unstable, likely this proposal is not compatible with JSON-LD... So there's a lot of work to do (and your input is welcome!).
@alex Yes, it should be possible. Fediverse projects will likely end up using Ed25519 keys, but with FEP-ef61 it is easy to support many different types of keys and signature algorithms.
@alex Not yet.
But what I'm planning to do is similar to what you're doing in Ditto (if I understand it correctly).
- Client interacts with the server using Mastodon API.
- When the user performs some action, the server creates an activity and sends it to the client.
- Client signs the activity and sends it to outbox (per FEP-ae97).
So, I think implementing FEP-ef61 in Ditto may make sense.
@greyarea I was able to push commits and upload packages, so it seems to be recovering.
Hello @waifu and thank you for trying Mitra!
Administrative tasks are performed using mitractl command line tool. Documentation can be found here: https://codeberg.org/silverpill/mitra/src/branch/main/docs/mitractl.md
You can change the role to admin with set-role command:
mitractl set-role <user-id-or-name> adminCurrently, admin status doesn't change much, but admin functionality will be gradually added to UI. If you're interested in any particular feature, let me know
@trades @mint @Pawlicker @japananon @Moon I added lightbox in v2.7.0, and gallery was improved as well
#Mitra v2.7.0
https://codeberg.org/silverpill/mitra/releases/tag/v2.7.0
https://codeberg.org/silverpill/mitra-web/releases/tag/v2.7.0
Highlights:
- Media uploads from Mastodon API clients. Tested with Bloat-FE (uses /api/v1/media) and Phanpy (uses /api/v2/media).
- Showing lightbox if clicked on attached image.
- Images in gallery can be viewed without opening posts.
- "Repost with comment" (currently hidden in post menu and only available in thread view, not in timeline view).
@grunfink FYI, this object looks malformed: https://snac.jamesoff.net/jamesoff/p/1704978630.677698
"cc": [null],Also one of mentions has href: null
@enafore I tried Enafore some time ago and noticed that it sends a request to /search API endpoint with a 3rd party URL on behalf of the current user.
I don't remember the exact URL, something containing "stats" and "pinafore". In other words, a tracker, likely a remnant from the original codebase. Could you remove it?
@o_simardcasanova @lutindiscret @mitra Mitra only supports decentralized digital currencies. In another comment you said it's a big no, but I guess you might still be interested in the protocol extensions that were developed to enable this type of application. They are documented here: https://codeberg.org/silverpill/mitra/src/branch/main/FEDERATION.md#subscriptions
@tallship @RyunoKi @tallship Image descriptions are supported by mitra server (since v2.6.0), but I haven't added them to mitra-web yet

@importantimport Is there any live instances?
@bnewbold @marcua did:apkey does not support key rotation. But other DID methods could be extended in the same way as did:key
For example did:web -> did:apweb. The base DID method describes an identity, and "ap" extension describes how to access associated data via DID URLs
@mikedev Yes, I'll add it.
(And a number of other changes too. I've been collecting feedback and will publish an updated version soon)
