I don’t exaggerate when I say the PRC govt believes it has legislative authority over all ethnic Chinese people, including those who are not Chinese citizens or who those who have never been there. Various Swedish booksellers can confirm that, and they’ve also said so many times.

When we first moved here, 45 made it impossible for foreign spouses to work. So my wife went back to school and today, she’s graduating with her Bachelors in Psychology. Next stop: grad school! (Thankful for California’s excellent public universities system, and resident tuition!)

People who protest other people who protest genocides, by saying what about other genocides, maybe don’t know that people who protest genocides in the first place are generally more educated in and interested in protesting all genocides, than people who protest people protesting about genocides.

A few brave Singaporeans unfurled this banner in front of the iconic Marina Bay Sands, in a country where any public protest is illegal without prior approval and approved protests are only allowed at one park (and the authorities already said all registered protest applications relating to Gaza will be denied)

If they were foreigners they would almost certainly be deported. As citizens they’ll definitely see some legal action
