Two headaches solved today: —I patched Linux kernel 6.10.3 so that it doesn't crash i.MX8MPlus on boot any longer, linux-image updates are now back in our repo and available via apt —AsiaRF M27612-BU3 WiFi cards arrived and they work perfectly at full speed in Pocket Reform with A311D, in the WWAN slot. A solid workaround for the 20-30mbit/s limit and intermittent stalls of the default RTL8822CS wifi on the Banana Pi CM4. I have some Ezurio FlexPIFA antennas on order for future bundling.
Today I replaced bad RP2040s in 47 #MNT#PocketReform keyboards! To do so I had to also desolder 2 Kailh key switches and remove the 4, 5, 6 and 7 key caps for each one.
yesssss, mipi dsi output works on the rk3588, which means we can get rk3588 for pocket reform. the key was to disable vop_mmu. and thanks to heiko stübner for sending me his wip patches so i could compare everything!
the MNT Pocket Reform review by @andypiper made it to HN today. it's interesting to see how our (devices') reputation has developed over the years: —æsthetically pleasing (nice) —kinda rough to get into at first/can require some tinkering (a bit of pain!) —actually not that expensive anymore (maybe inflation helped us here? but certainly upgraded processors/ram and quality of some parts) thank you for supporting us, it means a lot :3
made it this far but sadly no further with porting the rockchip dsi2 driver from the vendor kernel, and ran out of time now, so can't continue this work at the moment. so, no rk3588 for pocket reform before the mainline driver is published by heiko
earlier i hack-ported rockchip's dsi2 driver from the vendor kernel because noone has WIP code to share (sniff), but only got a cpu stall somewhere after finally probing. then i went home. beastie boys were on the radio (fight for your right to party etc). made me think!
