I swear, Azumanga Daioh was not only such a wonderful series but it was also just the best thing for the budding Internet meme culture.
Raspberry Heaven.. I'm coming back to you...

@foone oh nice, you just hang a SCSI CD-R drive off the back
I think the ones I messed with were a little later and used USB media for export (?)
what's funny is I swear I've seen that same front panel design, we have one gathering dust at work *somewhere*
@foone the hilarious thing is, if it IS one of those boxes... well, few things will dig the video out of the container, but miraculously, uploading it to Youtube works!
Very, very, very strange.
@foone okay bonus Silly Points if when you do that you find that it delivers exported videos as a windows executable!
There's an instance at mastodon.hams.social and I keep thinking they should make it also accessible at steamed.hams.social
@foone I've experienced this on a printer before. The sound it makes is horrifying.
@foone oh now you're just borrowing from the dark ages
@foone oh is that one of those bizarre trade show handouts where it basically just has enough storage for an autorun.inf (nooooo!) and a .url link file?
@foone nah she just happens to have the same height!
I have introduced some of my coworkers to the Smoot as a measurement, they are not as amused with it as we are
My partner is one Smoot tall
@foone this reminds me of how I became aware at some point that my Olympus E-PL2 camera's firmware update process for some reason involves using a special driver that causes something inside the camera to emulate a SCSI host adapter and storage device
I suspect this was done out of, uh, weird simplicity; there's not a whole ton of logic on a SCSI adapter.
@foone does it also turn up a blank with DirectX? I seem to recall that requiring a different capture method
@foone years ago I had a ridiculous PC Chips motherboard in a 486 machine where for some reason it would suddenly reboot if it was under high CPU load without a bit of mouse or keyboard input.
Oh, to have been "blessed" by having the US sales outlet for them in town before online shopping was a thing. It was originally called BEK for some reason.
@kiwa
@foone not sure on HDMI but if you want to make a consumer grade DVD recorder refuse to touch a signal, just put some junk in the horizontal interval on the "front porch" or so
@foone I have a bad habit of using a problem like this as an excuse to wire up a bunch of really cool looking arcade pushbuttons
@foone it's the shrinkflation
@foone That or count the number of heater cycles at the end of the drying cycle, and open the door to enter the desired letter.
If you graph the power consumption of a dryer you'll find this really weird PWM function; it starts out 100% duty cycle and starts to iterate downwards until it's done
@foone wheel'nt
@foone cursed-cable-genesis
