    but hearing coworkers and uni friends here in sg casually mention trips to america, europe or east asia is something that i don’t think alot of people in the world have the luxury of doing

    thought it was just an indonesia thing at first but then i met fedi friends in europe and the americas which similarly didn’t experience such things

    @lain eh i feel with standards of living you can’t really compare it apples to apples
    strong currency means travel and electronics are cheaper but smol space means housing and cars are much more expensive and unaffordable

    my friends back home tend to live in nice houses and drive(tm) but me in dinky little flat can afford to go overseas more often and don’t have to jump through hoops for imported goods

    i remember seeing a couple out at lunch together
    they had a setup for watching youtube videos while eating; propping up their phones it was beautiful
