I'm no longer comfortable with this religion I was brought up with.

Just visiting my family and my mum had on a religious talk where the guy talked about the "need" for AI-based content moderation.

Can't upload the video but this woman was talking about "punishing wrongdoers" and before I started recording said something about "cyberbullying". At the end she said something about "self-moderation" though.

The guy on now compared regulating AI with gun control.

I like how flexible/extendable #ActivityPub is compared to #Nostr.
You can just make new types so long as you have a URI to describe them. Whereas in Nostr they have to be approved by fiatjaf etc and they probably won't be approved if they "shitcoin". IIRC.

Well, Nostr taken as a whole is very money-focused with the "zaps" and will probably move further in that direction, which annoys me greatly. It's completely optional though AFAICS. All we need now is a client that completely ignores financial transactions, except maybe for use cases where it makes sense, like buying and selling (and for that accept other currencies as well, like XMR). I.e. no tips for posts ("zaps"), no rating posts based on how much BTC they have received via zaps, no rating poll options in the same way (which I think I have seen in a screenshot of (a beta version of?) Amethyst), none of the "high signal" BS that basically seems to mean rating importance by how much money you have to waste (I don't mean paying for relay operation). Maybe a relay that does the same as well, to really hammer the point home.

I was just thinking before I saw your post:
Counting is actually more complicated than it seems.
How do you count the islands in an archipelago? It depends on what *counts* as an island and what is just a rock in the sea.
How do you count the branches of a tree? It depends on what *counts* as a branch and what is merely a twig or a bump on a twig.
(This is probably where we get the polysemy in "count" meaning "to reckon" or "to matter" from #Linguistics #NaturalLanguage #Semantics #Semiotics )
This lead me to realise that numbers, like discrete objects on which concept they are based, are an illusion/product of our minds.

What does it mean to take a photo of a number?
If you find n instances of an object, and take a picture of them, have you taken a picture of n?
What if you take a picture of something with a physical quantity equal to n <some unit>? Which quantities? Which units?
What about a written representation of a number?
