One feature, that could be easy-ish to implement, but be a huge help for moderation teams:

Add a new level/role that's basically a pre-admin, where the role has all the basic moderator access to tools with a single addition: allow this moderator to do server level Limits but not any other admin tools or responsibility or confusion.

Reminding myself to check in on the fediforum in a week or so.

I've spent the last 2+ years spending so much time and money on running vis.social, and experimenting with starting datavis.social. Building a team of amazing folks to help guide and work together to moderate our instances.

We need more support! We need more cross instance collaboration in defense against bad actors.

We want to spend more time community building, and less defense.

Honestly, when I'm asked to 'raise my hand' and 'ask my questions'...ummm..I've been in tech for a very long time, and as a woman I find that it takes at least three times for me to say something and then a dude repeats it, and suddenly everyone hears it.

If you really want to hear what I have to say, you need to do better.

Honestly, why should I bother to tell Eugene, what I need to protect and guide my community safely?

It's been two-f*cking years! And still I don't have the tools to protect my community!

My mod team is amazing! Thoughtful, compassionate, wanting to do the best most supportive thing possible.

But we have inadequate tools. Still!!!!

If @Gargron keeps neglecting our moderation support needs, I fear that Mastodon will fade away, while other fediverse systems rise to the needs of the people.

I continue to see distributed social as the best path forward.

Will mastodon keep up?

I hope that it does. And I'm sharing my thoughts, here, in the hope that others might speak up, and push for more.

If you want artists to keep sharing their work on mastodon, this whole "absolute no commercial posts at all" attitude has to stop. There is a huge difference between a big corporate ad campaign and an individual artist posting a link to their own art shop.
