Just so you know @mekkaokereke has posted about the abuse of followers only replies many times in the past. Tbh, I had no idea people did this until he posted about it. Since then I’ve been the target of it as a minority as well, although not to the same extent (likely due to my own preventative actions).

@feditips @mike Worth noting that you still need to follow people because hashtags alone won’t get anything. As I understand it, they are retrieved from the instances of the people you follow.

The Washington Post is making their own instance for their newsroom! The Fediverse for journalism is happening! 🎉 🎊

Edit: More recently, they have clarified that they are still deciding on hosting an instance but are taking steps for a larger Fedi presence.
