⌨⬛ This is the NeXT computer. Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau used it at CERN to set up the first web server, id Software developed games like Doom and Quake on it, and at Slovenian daily newspaper Delo they used it to digitize the entire newspaper production process.
🔴📺 Sinclair ZX Spectrum has also found its place in our showcase, alongside a cool red retro TV. 😍 The total length of our exhibition showcases is an impressive 50 meters. 💪
✏️📺 In our museum collection, we have a unique gaming console called the Vectrex, which comes with its own built-in TV screen. Its distinctive feature, as evident from its name, is vector graphics (made up of lines) instead of raster graphics (like pixels on the screen) - giving its games a unique look and very smooth animations.
🤏👁️ The Milton Bradley Microvision is the first handheld game console with cartridge-based games from 1979. It has some interesting technological features:
🧠 The console contains only a screen and buttons; the processor is part of the game cartridges. 🔬 The screen has a resolution of 16x16 pixels, which is as small as the tiniest icons on modern computers. 😭 Unfortunately, the screen is not as durable as more modern LCDs, so most Microvision consoles today are non-functional.
🔺🔼 The Coleco Telstar Arcade, a first-generation video game console from 1977, was quite innovative. When you insert one of the triangular game cartridges, you have access to controllers on all three sides, including Pong-style paddles, a steering wheel, and a gun.
🟥⬛ Within our collection, we proudly house three rare household computers, the Oric Nova 64, specifically adapted for the Yugoslavian market from the Oric Atmos (Tangerine Computer Systems, 1984). One of these units is particularly fascinating due to its inclusion of engraved Yugoslav (YU) characters. 😍
The Iskra Delta “Triglav” computer serves as a testament to Slovenia's remarkable contributions to the world of computing. Triglav, which translates to "Trident" in English, stands as a noteworthy addition to the esteemed Iskra Delta series that emerged in the 1980s. You can also obtain a stylish t-shirt featuring its iconic design!
