I saw some pretty negative feedback regarding Pixelfed and how "I'm working on 30 different projects" while not focusing on my main one.

I'm sorry, and I'll do better.

Before I start onboarding Loops beta testers, I need to get my house in order!

I'm going to ship some long awaited features in Pixelfed and then get back to the mobile app, Loops, Sup and PubKit.

Being a good maintainer is knowing when to acknowledge your wrong, and I'm sorry for losing focus!

I honestly do feel guilty about @loops success when just a week before I reached out to @stux and offered my help to build a mobile app for GoldFish

I don't want him to lose interest in #GoldFish and all the hard work he's put into learning front and backend development

I stick by my word and will write a basic GoldFish app and teach him native app dev and he'll be one of those unstoppable fedi devs in no time 😎

As much as I like seeing pixelfed mentioned so often, it shouldn't come at the expense of devs or users thinking its the only option.

The fediverse is much bigger than Mastodon, PeerTube and Pixelfed. I hope we don't forget that.

Don't get me wrong, I love Mastodon and everything it's done for the fediverse

That being said, I don't want Loops to become the only short form video platform, or the only well known one

I'm working with @stux on his own short vid platform called #GoldFish and PeerTube to enable seamless interop

We're stronger and better together

There is no reason NOT to work with "competitors" because when you have the right mindset and goals:

You build for the people, and listen wisely.

I was planning on announcing Loops as an April Fools joke, but what started out as a joke ended up turning into a real project, lol

I only started working on Loops a few weeks ago!

It was a combination of reaching out to @stux to offer to mentor him with his GoldFish project, and the TikTok ban, that really made me reconsider a serious approach.

This is why I had to make last minute April Fools joke about me joining Meta and wishing farewell to Pixelfed 😅

Loops is real, and will be here soon

I wasn’t kidding when I said I plan to release 6 new apps this year!

Loops, Sup, Groups, Collect, Later and another unnamed app.

Mark my words, 2024 is #pixelfedSzn 🚀

Pixelfed was my first real open source project, I didn’t know what I was doing or getting myself into

I was working in the automotive industry at the time, I dreamed of doing web dev full time, and because of Pixelfed I was able to get a full time job which I still have today, and y’all helped make that possible!

I’m forever grateful to the #fediverse for helping me grow to become the developer I’ve always aspired to be!

I promise I’ll make it up to you 🚀
